What will the Solar System clock be able to do?
Upon completion, I hope that the program will be able to...
- Show on a world map where it is day and where it is any night
- Give details about clock changes for all time zones
- Give the times of equinoxes and solstices for a given year
- Give the date of the Western or Jewish Easter for a given year
- Show the position of the Sun, Moon or a planet in the sky at a particular location
- Give the times of rising, transit and setting for the Sun, Moon, and planets
- Give the co-ordinates and details of the Sun, Moon, planets and stars in a big table
- Show a map of the celestial sphere (i.e. the Solar System as seen from the centre of the Earth)
- Show the view of the sky at any location in the world at any time within 7000 years of the present
- Show an orrery (a view of the planets as seen from space)
- Make predictions about solar eclipses, lunar eclipses, and transits of Mercury and Venus
- Show solar eclipses and transits on a diagram of the Sun
- Give the times of the New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon and Last Quarter for the lunar cycle
- Show the current phase of the Moon
