What does the Easter calculator do?
The Easter calculator can...
- Calculate the date of Easter Sunday (and all related days) for a given year,
- Calculate in what years Easter Sunday will fall on a given date,
- Plot a graph of how many times Easter Sunday falls on each possible date in a given date range.
You enter a year, and the program tells you when all the Easter related days for that year fall.
You enter two years, and the program will analyse the frequency of how often Easter Sunday falls on each possible date.
How does the Easter calculator work?
It simply puts into practice the Meeus/Jones/Butcher algorithm, and then presents the results in a more readable and accessible form. If you want to read more about the calculation of Easter and this algorithm, then I suggest visiting my page on the calculation of easter.
Where did you get the information to write the Easter calculator?
I myself found the Meeus/Jones/Butcher algorithm in Meeus' book Astronomical Algorithms. However, I have since realised that the algorithm is avaliable for anyone to see on Wikipedia.
