About me...well, you've probably worked out that I'm called Matthew Skues. I live and work in Bath in the United Kingdom, having graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in mathematics. When I'm not in Bath, I'm usually back with my parents in my home town of Chester.

As you can probably tell from the site's contents, I like solving small (but somewhat random) mathematical problems using Excel, have an interest in astonomy, and enjoy doing Sudoku puzzles when I can find the time.
My biggest interest, however, is the art of church bell ringing (sometimes known as campanology). My home tower is St Mary's, Bathwick, though I also ring a lot at Bath Abbey, where I also work part time doing tower tours. I also used to run the Bath University Bellringing Society.
During my time as a student with 4 month long summer holidays, I also developed a taste for travelling - in particular interrailing - and have now been on four extended excursions around Europe and Asia. I took rather an interest in post-1945 history while at school, and found it fascinating to be able to go and visit all the places that we learnt so much about. I've now visited a total of 56 countries, which I think is quite an achievement for someone in their early twenties!

- Why do you program in Excel?
The honest answer to that is that I've never got into anything else programming-wise. I was introduced to Excel at the age of 9 or 10 by my father, and was fascinated at what it could do. Since then I've been creating more and more sophisticated spreadsheets and programs. However, credit for some of my programs must go to one of my friends from school (see his website), as he introduced me to Visual Basic (a 'proper' way of coding, which integrates nicely with Excel).
